2015 Munich Show Specimens - IBelow you will find all of the specimens I obtained at the 2015 Munich Show for this large update.  I was hoping to have had this done sooner but got wiped out with a nasty case of the flu shortly after returning home.  I am all better now though.

The first batch is a large group of mixed minerals - pieces that I found with various venders at the show. There is a lot of diversity here.

Luzonite - Taiwan

Pyromorphite - Type Locality

Vesuvianite & Hessonite - Italy

California gemstone dealer Steve Ulatowski of New Era Gems had his usual array of great stuff from Tanzania.  But what caught my eye were his small hoard of imperial topaz crystals from Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais, Brazil. All fully terminated and with good color.  I bought the lot of nine pieces.

NEW FIND!  Tomek Praszkier told me of a new find of Moroccan pyromorphite from the Moulay Bouazza area, Meknes-Tafilalet Region in Morocco.  It is not even a mine yet - just a digging found by some locals. This is the first good promorphite find from Morocco, in terms of color, I have ever heard of.  The crystals have good chartreuse color and are set on gossanous matrix.

I  heard from Tomek Prazskier of Spirifer Minerals that the blue barytes from Jebel Ouichane, Nador, Morocco are at an end as the deposit has been exhausted so I made it a priority to pick up as many of these of good quality as I could.

Luis Miguel Burillo had his usual spread of fine minerals which are meticulously prepped.  What I found in his booth this time were some of the finest hutchinsonite crystals from the Quiruvilca mine I have ever seen in terms of luster. Hutchinsonite is one of the few minerals found in nature to contain the element thallium. Thallium is also quite poisonous so care should be excersized when handling these specimens. The three specimens I obtained from him have brilliantly lustrous, prismatic crystals associated with orpiment and pyrite.

German dealer Christian Rewitzer was offering specimens from the Fritz Haller collection of German fluorites.  I was happy to be there when they were being put out as I grabbed a lot of them as many are quite colorful.  These come from various districts in Bavaria.

German dealerWerner Radl always has a lot of nice things from Tanzania.  What caught my eye were these stunning specimens of nicely terminated chrome tremolite.

Gersdorffite - I had seen several European dealers with specimens of the gersdorffite from  Aït Ahmane, Bou Azzer District, Morocco. The luster on many of these recently collected specimens is exceptional! Rather than try and work the European dealers down in terms of price I went to the Moroccan dealers there and found a few good fixer uppers.  Please note that all gersdorffite from this locality is prone to internal fractures.  It is just the nature of the deposit.

NEW FIND!  German dealer Gerd Wiedenbeck was the show case for some new fluorite specimens coming out of Weardale.  The locality is known as the Greenlaws mine located in Daddry Shield, Weardale, England. The dominant color is violet but there are many with interesting hues.  As is typical of much of the fluorite from this region interpenetratiop twins are common.  Most of the specimens I saw have a lot of inclusions that are commonly referred to as "oatmeal".  But there were a few that I saw with great clarity and luster.

NEW FIND!  There is a new find of djurleite also from Aït Ahmane, Bou Azzer District in Moroccco.  Tomeck had just a small handful of specimens - I think5.  He had them analyzed and they are found to be djurleite.  Djurleite is a sulfide of copper with a huge molecule - Cu31S16. The crystals are encased in calcite and only by etching or chipping the calcite away can the crystals be seen.  There are only a handful of these specimens that have been found to date.

NEW FIND!  Kalahari Classics had a new find of churchite-Y specimens from the Skorpion mine in Namibia.  They crystals are acicular and occur as hemispheres to .75 cm across.  This find has produced some very large crystals groups of this fairly rare yttrium bearing mineral. I have also included two specimens of smithsonite from the Skorpion mine in this group.
